Of Kites and Mules

Nearly frozen to death and contemplating consuming his deceased mule for sustenance, Seril, a merchant from the Martei tradepost, called for help from the northern tundra.

After a point, snow covered mountains all tended to look the same, and apparently, if you're a conjuror on Zanzibaar, anyone who lives on the snowline knows exactly where to dig in the immense snowscape to find a buried tomb. (This is not actually the case.)

Seril was not exactly thrilled with his task and the information given, and even less pleased by the frostbite starting to manifest within his boots, so call for help he did. He was also really quite fond of that mule.

Eventually Seril was found and his miserable task shared. A slew of adventurous responders took their shovels out into the frigid wilderness and soon beneath a northern mountain dubbed Bataoac, was a way beneath uncovered.

It was unfortunate that the information Seril was given was incorrect. The assumption was that the Elemental conduits were summoned to Achaea by Dekalb, the Aldar who also created the Reliquary of Proteus. So it might make sense that a creature of earth would also be entombed in a similar construction. Those who began to dig can be entirely forgiven for making such leaps of judgement.

When the deep earth collapsed beneath the mountain for the third time, something above shifted, something more than loose rocks and an unlucky mountain goat. The conduit of earth stood up, disturbed by the commotion beneath his feet.

The mountain Bataoac, the Northern Giant, stood tall, looming even more than before over the glacial lands. In the far south the Mistral responded to the shift in geography, unleashing its playful nature upon the Meropian lands.

After a misunderstanding over a now-broken kite, Skye Anchors commissioned an enormous toy just for the Mistral to play with, and lured the mischievous breeze forth to Sapience with the weight of many a dragon.

Summary:
Through various misguided and misinformed actions and much death, including the loss of a beloved mule, the earth conduit, a mountain named Bataoac, and the air conduit were released upon Sapience.

Penned by My hand on the 15th of Scarlatan, in the year 758 AF.
