The Donkey Who Would Be King

A hushed silence fell over the stables that day
As horses and cows waited with abated breath
The chickens and ducks ceased ruffling feathers
The goats and sheep for once were together
As they waited for He Who Would Be King

The silence grew to a level so intense
The air itself seemed to condense
Droplets of mist did begin to appear
A fog rushed in clouding what was clear
As they waited for He Who Would Be King

When suddenly at last! A cry did arise
Piercing through the blue summer skies!
Their heads raised and began to pray
As their hopes were shattered when they heard a bray
From the Donkey Who Would Be King

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Aeguary, in the year 810 AF.
