Observation of Progress

On the outside, they are disappointments in comparison to the glory I have witnessed throughout my life within His Empire. They feel, they show mercy from time to time, and for all intents and purposes, they blindly paw about in the darkness, unsure of what they are doing day to day. Surprisingly, when they are focused, they show a glimmer of why they still exist and have not been wiped away like so many others that I have read about.

They were given a task I have seen many times in the past given too much greater forces. One that some before them have failed in completing and paid the price for. See that the traitors and their misguided beliefs are put to an end, doing so in a way that those that come after them understand the error of their ways. Not only did they take the task up with a fervour that I have not seen from them since my arrival here, but they did so in a way that I did not believe they were able to!

The Insidi gathered in their tower, and produced a ritual that with the guidance and support of the High Priest, opened the way allowing the ravaging band of Legates to ply their craft. From what I was told, though overwhelmed initially, their knack for being denied true death benefited them even across planar barriers, and the Dread Legates were able to regroup and rolled across the traitors in a whirl of death and destruction. The ritualist showed their mettle also, repelling an assault on their person and maintaining the pathway to allow their compatriots to return. To say that I am surprised at this would be an understatement. Though it seems that at the end the Legates required the assistance of an Arbiter to end the one known as Temeluchus, but regardless, he is dead.

Their success comes with rewards and consequences. The Legates have seen their lot in the city grow in the form of a direct representative more inclined to success than their last, and it seems so the Insidi have gained the interest of one that may be beyond them. They believe themselves prepared after one victory, but we shall see because with victory comes new enemies and greater expectations.

Regardless, my duty remains and I will continue to monitor them.
