Divine Deliberations

The death of Lord Thoth at the hands of Prince Slith shook not only the living and the planes, but the Gods Themselves.

Distant Scarlatti played an angry dirge across the worlds, the Bard's anger felt in the discordant tones, and His demands for action echoed in the thunder of drums. The composition was lent voice by Aegis, the great commander as He urged war and retaliation against Slith's latest audacious act. Nature's Wrath and the gilded Prospero both gave Their support to this theme, the former offering to entomb the Hall within which Slith was trapped in obsidian, and the latter setting aside business to propose the Gods join as one to quell the murderer once and for all.

Others were not so openly displeased: the terrible timbre of the Lord of Oblivion mused with a chuckle that even death must die, and the Malevolent Lord Sartan lauded the might of the infernal legacy.

In a poignantly silent counterpart to Scarlatti's visceral response, the oceans turned to fathomless black, and the moon wept starry tears into the immense depths of Their mourning. From the realm of Slumber, the Somnolent Lady wished Thoth peace in His eternal rest and promised that His grace would be immortalised within the Dream. And, as the great trees of the forests trembled in grief, their shuddering sobs shedding leaves to cowl the land, the Earthmother spoke of honouring the Endbringer and His place within the Cycle of Life.

Slowly realisation fully dawned on the Pantheon, Their great voices fell silent. Minutes went by, the land stilled in shock before the Lightbringer finally spoke.

Lady Aurora's single exhortation was addressed to Her Brothers and Sisters, "Brethren, we must go forward in light of such tragedy. The Murderer cannot escape but our mortals wander now, lost without guide, let Us do for them as He no longer can."

A quiet murmur, unheard by mortal ears, filled the Garden of the Gods as the lives of the lands were divided between Them. With the maudlin duty assigned and the mortal followers each permitted a chance at return upon death, the Lord Smith, once-Lieutenant to Ayar, DwarfFather, and Forger of Worlds declared that a moot of Gods would be held to decide the fate of Slith.

After much deliberation, word was passed to Rurin at the Gates of the Garden. The great dwarf announced that all would be invited into the Amphitheatre of the Gods on the 7th of Ero, seven-hundred and sixteen years after the fall of the Seleucarian Empire, to bear witness to the decision and fate of Slith, Lord of the Undead Legions.
